( I’ve also read that the book has already been optioned for a movie and I am beyond excited. It’s complex, well-written, and is full of masterful plot twists. The Silent Patient is definitely a read that completely sucks you in and is really hard to put down. The story begins to unravel as both of their secrets start to come to life. Meanwhile, we learn that Theo is not as picture perfect with a bad childhood and a troubled marriage. Theo is somewhat obsessed with Alicia’s case and is determined to help her and allow her to find her voice.Īlicia only chooses to communicate through her journal which is how we learn of other troubling connections. Alicia then encounters a psychotherapist named Theo Faber. The story is completely sensationalized and Alicia is found insane and sentenced to a secure mental facility called The Grove. Alicia never speaks another word.Īlicia refuses to speak or give any explanation as to why she shot and killed her husband. But one evening Alicia shoots her husband Gabriel five times in the face when he returns home late from a fashion shoot. She is a famous painter married to a talented fashion photographer, with whom she is completely in love with. The main character is Alicia Berenson who we think lives an almost perfect life. 
THE SILENT PATIENT is a psychological thriller full of suspense, twists, and turns. We met at a favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoyed a few cocktails and cheesy-delicious food while discussing this fantastic book. The book that we chose for this month’s book club book was The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. But this month we had a great turn-out and everyone really enjoyed the book. Between vacations, ballgames, and wrangling kids it’s hard for everyone to meet up. Usually, the summer months are really hard for all of us to get together for our book club.
